Iván Prieto: The Imperfections and Weirdness of Being Human

The young Spanish artist Ivan Prieto has only recently begun to climb the creative ladder, but his extraordinary works have already gained fame and public recognition. The author's sculptures are conceptual, but at the same time, they are incredibly realistic as they represent human extremes, sins, and shortcomings which can turn even a handsome man into a goblin.

The meaning of such works is usually hidden deep in the subtext and can be understood as deep in the subconscious. But with our eyes, we still see ugly creatures that nature created as if wishing to have a good laugh. And yet there is no weapon more powerful than laughter. Including laughter at oneself. So it seems that all-important symbols, images, and signs defining negative sides of our society were hidden by Ivan Prieto in these strange creatures for a reason.

Giant sculptures depict people, beasts, and other characters that defy description. They are ugly, but there is something about them. Something that everyone defines for themselves. The popular game of guess what's here that modern sculptors, artists and other creative people love so much. Ivan Prieto is an incredibly productive artist. He has a rather extensive and varied portfolio. Not only sculptures but also other creative works of this author can be seen on his website.
